Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, read out the content of the cover letter on the bill to members on Wednesday. The House of Representatives has resolved to constitute an ad hoc committee to investigate a whistle-blower’s allegation of illegal sale of 48 million barrels of Nigeria’s Bonny Light crude in China in 2015 and the insurance status of the cargo. The committee is also to investigate all crude oil exports and sales by Nigeria from 2014 to date, with regards to quantity, insurance, revenue generated, remittances into the Federation Account or other accounts as well as utilisation of the revenue for the period under review. The Nigeria Police’s National Cybercrime Centre has arrested a group of fraudsters who stole over N16 million using Point of Sales machines. The police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, announced this in a statement issued on Tuesday evening. He said the police unit, which was set up to tackle cybercrime offences, had recorded salient achievements in less than one month. Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese Plant has launched multi-million naira corporate social responsibility projects for its host communities. The company disclosed that during an event tagged “2022 Host Community Day”, it unveiled various empowerment programmes including skill acquisition, scholarship, farming techniques training as well as empowerment of vulnerable women in its 17 host communities. A civil society group, the World Institute for Peace, has decried the increasing hoodlum clashes in Osun State. The group said between July and December many residents had been injured while no fewer than 10 lives had been lost as a result of such clashes, saying that no suspect had been apprehended by security agencies.
