Bayero University Kano has debunked a purported fake letter currently in circulation on social media announcing increment in registration fees. A statement issued on Monday by the school’s Deputy Registrar, Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, said the letter was fake. The Central Bank of Nigeria has excluded mobile money/Point of Sales agents in Abuja and Lagos from its newly launched cash swap programme, Switch Nigeria has learnt.The development came as the January 31 deadline for the phasing out of the old N1,000, N500 and N200 notes approaches.In a Frequently Asked Questions document released to selected agents and obtained by our correspondent on Monday, the CBN provided some guidelines for the cash swap programme.According to the document, only five banks have been approved to engage in the programme. An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday sentenced a 27-year-old electrician, Olamide Ayodele, to life imprisonment for defiling the 8-year-old daughter of a man that gave him shelter. Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have uncovered an armoury of suspected kidnappers at the Tudun Wada area of Liman Katagum, Bauchi Local Government Area of the state and recovered three AK-47 rifles. Also recovered are one LAR rifle, 49 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, nine AK47 magazines, one pair of army camouflage jackets and one pair of police camouflage trousers.
