Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2023 general elections has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of installing a third-party device to intercept and switch the results of the presidential election in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Bola Tinubu. Ugandan lawmakers have passed a law that prescribes a punishment of up to 10 years in prison for identifying as LGBTQ+, among other things. The new legislation constitutes a further crackdown on LGBTQ+ people in a country where same-sex relations are already illegal. It targets an array of activities, including banning promoting and abetting homosexuality as well as conspiracy to engage in homosexuality. The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has finally declared Alex Otti as the winner of last Saturday’s governorship election. The former managing director of Diamond Bank now Access Bank, who was the candidate of Labour Party in the governorship election, had in a video posted on his official Twitter handle on Saturday evening, said PDP were trying to rig the election in their favour. INEC later announced suspended collation of results for the state till further notice. He polled 175,467 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Okey Ahiwe of the PDP who polled 88,529 votes.
Isa Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has revealed that a total of 3,834,244 cyberattacks launched within and outside Nigeria were blocked during the gubernatorial and state assembly elections that took precedence on March 18.
