A total of 24 suspected internet fraudsters also referred to as “yahoo boys” are currently cooling their heels in the custody of the Benin zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. This followed their arrest by the zonal command of the anti-graft agency on Thursday. Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offence court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, March 30, convicted and sentenced an internet fraudster, also known as “Yahoo Boy”, Etegene Japheth, to six months imprisonment. A total of 120 suspected internet fraudsters, also known as “Yahoo Boys”, have been arrested by operatives of the Ibadan and Enugu zonal commands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in both states. Eighty (80) of the suspects were apprehended in Ibadan, Oyo State, while forty (40) were picked up in Enugu State.
