The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has called on Nigerians to refrain from every act of vote buying and vote selling in the nation’s electoral processes. The chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Presidential Screening Committee, John Oyegun has disclosed why some presidential candidates were disqualified on Friday. Seven internet fraudsters, also known as “Yahoo Boys” whose conviction was secured by the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, have been given various options of fine. The seven were convicted and sentenced by Justice I.M Buba of the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu on separate charges bordering on impersonation and obtaining money under false pretences from unsuspecting foreign nationals. Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Wednesday June 1, 2022 arrested 41 suspected internet fraudsters, otherwise known as “Yahoo Boys” in Akure, Ondo State. The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of one Aderibigbe Sheu, a student of Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete, for posing as a widow resident in the United States of America, USA, to defraud unsuspecting victims. Aderibigbe, a native of Oshogbo, Osun State, was one of the 30 suspected internet fraudsters arrested in Malete, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State on September 19, 2021 during a sting operation by operatives of the EFCC. A video has surfaced online of the moment Isuochi youths in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State blocked a main road in the village against military personnel.
