The Federal Government has said the issues behind the lingering ASUU strike have no quick fix. They made this known after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja. This was disclosed by Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, who defended the Federal Government saying they are committed to ending the prolonged strike. He however noted that settling with the lecturers is not as straightforward as Nigerians think. “We’re worried, we’re concerned, and we’ll continue to work towards finding an early resolution of the problem,” Lai Mohammed said in his exchanges with State House correspondents.

Rauf Olaniyan, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State is facing impeachment, after he decamped to the All Progressives Congress. 24 out of the 32 members of the Oyo State House of Assembly voted to have him removed from office during Wednesday’s plenary. A man has reportedly drowned three of his children in Round Lake Beach, a northern suburb of Chicago in Lake County, Illinois, United States. The incident came to the fore when the police received a call around 1:40am on Monday from the mother of the kids, who called to request for a well-being check. The Nigerian Army says it has intercepted one Mary Ngoshe, a woman believed to be one of the girls from Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Chibok, Borno State, abducted in 2014. Recall that on April 14, 2014, Boko Haram insurgents invaded GGSS, Chibok, and abducted 276 schoolgirls who were preparing for their final year examination.
