Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has told Arise TV that he will support Atiku Abubakar’s presidential bid only if God gives him the go-ahead. Atiku won the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential primaries in May, the same Party Ortom belongs to. Ortom who is close friends with Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, is not happy that his friend was overlooked in favour of Patrick Okowa of Delta State. Anambra State has announced their first positive of monkey pox, after testing two patients. This was confirmed by Dr Afam Obidike, the state’s Commissioner for Health, when he spoke to newsmen in Awka, the State Capital, on Thursday. Mr. Obidike said the State has been on red-alert since they heard of the virus’s presence in other States in Nigeria. There were tears and sadness on Thursday as Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna buried Rev. Fr. Vitus Vaishima Borogo, who was killed by terrorists on his farm in Kaduna State. As Switch Nigeria reported, the Late Bogoro was killed on June 25, 2022 while his brother, C.Y. Borogo, was kidnapped by the attackers. Family, friends and well wishers could be seen shedding tears. The Nigerian Army says a total of 314 BokoHaram/ISWAP fighters have surrendered to troops in Bama LGA of Borno State. A terse statement on the facebook page of the Nigerian Army, disclosed this on Wednesday night. The statement said the surrender was as a result of the ongoing offensive onslaught against terrorism in the North East. The statement also said 12 farmers were also rescued by the troops, adding that profiling of the surrendered terrorists is ongoing.
