The viral disease, monkey pox has continued to ravage Western nations after the World Health Organisation confirmed more than 200 confirmed cases in about 12 Western countries. Symptoms include fever, aches and rashes all over the body. According to the WHO, monkey pox likely spreads between humans, through large respiratory droplets that only travel a few feet, requiring prolonged face-to-face contact. Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, on Thursday inaugurated the state’s security outfit called Community Volunteer Guards. At the inauguration, the Governor said it became necessary to set-up the CVG because of the security challenges the state has been facing. “Today, Nigeria’s security architecture is gasping for breath as nobody is safe anymore. The Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Thursday, secured the conviction of Awopetu Gbolahan Emmanuel and Johnbull Kingsley before Justice M. Itsueli of the Edo State High Court, Benin City. The duo was convicted for internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo.” Kingsley was arraigned on one count charge of possession of documents containing false pretenses and misrepresentation, while Emmanuel was arraigned for making false statement to an officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. A police officer known as John Agbo has allegedly abducted a mentally ill teenage girl and raped her. The girl who is 14 years was reportedly taken into custody by Mr. Agbo on July 11, without the consent of anyone, keeping her from 10am till around 3pm.
