The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Allied and Education institutions (NASU) have suspended their strike. This was after a brief meeting with the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu on Saturday, August 20th. The suspension of the strike will take effect from Wednesday. Speaking, the education minister, Adamu Adamu said the federal government is making a commitment of N50 billion, which will be paid earned allowances for members of SSANU, NASU and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). A video has shown former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, saying that he the father of “frustrated Nigerian youths.” Obasanjo stated this on Friday when he recieved music veteran and activist, Charly Boy in his house. Governor Samuel Ortom has banned all mining activities Benue for the time being. The ban is coming after officials from Kwande local government paid a visit to the governor in Makurdi. The Benue State leader said some activities of the miners are harmful to the environment. He warned that the full force of the law will be unleashed on offenders.
