A building collapsed on Sunday night on Adeleye Street, Lady Lak, Bariga area of Lagos State. Two children died while three adults sustained injuries in the incident. While pictures of the collapsed building did not reveal the remains of the kids, the details of what led to the building collapse are also sketchy as at the time of filing this report.
Operatives of Meiran division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Emmanuel Aaron who is aged 35 for vandalizing a telecommunication mast in Isoto area of Meiran. The Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Hassan Nasiha has stated that the most wanted bandits kingpin, Bello Turji has now repented. The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) have released a statement denying the allegations that the Commission is planning to abandon electronic transmission of results in favour of the old manual process. Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has denied rumours that he has endorsed the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has insisted that 2023 election votes will be manually counted. This is a far cry from what many are expecting leading up to next year’s polls, especially after the new Electoral Act was passed into law earlier this year. Festus Okoye who is INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee who disclosed this said INEC will transmit results from polling units to its result-viewing portal, IReV, as has been done before, but noted that the Electoral Act is clear on how collation is to be done.
