The Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have been able to successfully sentence three yahoo yahoo boys to 9 years imprisonment. The command gave the names of the convicts as Osama Abraham Obasohan, Okunnuwa Moses and Osalenlen Celestine who were sentenced by Justice M. Itsueli of the Edo State High Court on Monday. The presiding judge delivered his ruling after the three men pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of possession of documents containing false information.
Chelsea have announced the signing of French defender, Wesley Fofana from fellow Premier League side, Leicester City. The Blues paid £70m for Fofana with potential £5m add ons as the centre back signed a seven year contract. The deal was sealed on Saturday before the 21-year-old flew to the United States to complete his medicals. At 6.2ft tall, Fofana is taller than Chelsea new boy, Kalidou Koulibaly, but is also ten years younger than him. Data from the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom has shown that 6, 068 Nigerian medical doctors have moved to the UK since President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office. The data revealed that total number of Nigeria-trained doctors who migrated to the UK as of August 30, 2022 stood at 10,096. This figure is third only to India and Pakistan in terms of number of foreign doctors working in the UK after India and Pakistan. The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has lashed out on Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore for calling him Governor Nyesom Wike’s “errand boy.” Ortom and the pan Fulani sociocultural group have been at loggerheads ever since the former signed the anti open grazing Bill into law, effectively clamping down on the activities of herdsmen in the state. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu on Tuesday, received a delegation of party leaders in Enugu State seeking remedial action on the state of affairs in the party in the state. A lawyer, Taiwo Oreagba, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for corrupt demand and obtaining of funds under false pretence. Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, convicted and sentenced the legal practitioner for obtaining the sum of N4,000,000 (Four Million Naira) from a client to secure the release of a suspect from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. She was jailed on Thursday, August 25, 2022 after standing trial on two-count charges bordering on corrupt demand and obtaining money under false pretences.
