The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) have secured the conviction of an internet fraudster, Ekechukwu Wilson Chinaza. Justice F.A. Aliyu of the FCT High Court sentenced to prison for his crime. The EFCC Statement read in part, “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Command today October 25, 2022, secured the conviction of an internet fraudster, Ekechukwu Wilson Chinaza before Justice F.A. Aliyu of the FCT High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja.” He was convicted after pleading guilty to a one count charge bordering on impersonation.

The Federal Government has quashed claims made by the United States embassy that the country is under a security threat. Speaking at ongoing UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Week, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said such claims are unfounded, insisting that the country is safe. Following the Federal Government’s continued detention of embattled IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, despite an ruling that ordered his immediate release, his lawyer has said his camp have filed a suit against Kanu’s continued detention.
