According to the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party — Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the incumbent government of President Muhammadu Buhari is directionless and clueless.
Atiku cites as an illustration of the ruling party’s failure the current unrest in the nation brought about by the Federal Government’s shoddy implementation of the naira reform policy.
In a statement released on Thursday, Atiku said that the APC was not ready for leadership when it assumed office in 2015.
He said, ”Recently millions of Nigerians have fallen into intense anger due to a move by the Central Bank of Nigeria to hurl new banknotes. As a result, uproar ensued at some bank branches and some bankers have had to contend with confrontation from enraged youths in desperation to get the new Naira notes
“It is easy for political expediency for the APC that has brought us to this cul de sac to want to hoodwink Nigerians into believing that the crisis was created by others.
“Truth be told, the crisis that the country is witnessing today was conceived, given birth to and nurtured by the ruling APC, which, indeed, was long in coming.
“We are all witnesses to the myriad of problems that Nigerians have had to endure as a result of the cluelessness of the APC, which came into government with no idea of a policy direction.
“We are witnesses to the massive erosion of jobs; hunger and multi-dimensional poverty; unabated fuel scarcity; deteriorating security that has created an industry of kidnapping and massacre of defenceless citizens; free fall of the naira; ASUU strike which kept students at home for prolonged periods of time and a general sense of hopelessness.”
According to Atiku, the APC is to blame for the hardships being faced by Nigerians.
