Martin Odegaard has been named Arsenal’s new captain. The Norwegian has become the first club captain since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stripped of the arm band.
The 24-year-old who also captain Norway, was said of by Arteta that he best represents the ethos of the club.
Arteta said, “He’s represented the values of this football club in the best possible way.”
“What I’ve seen over the past 18 months since he’s been with us, he’s represented the values of this football club, the team, the team-mates and the staff in the best possible way,” Arteta added.
Odegaard who captained his side in their 6-0 Emirates Cup win over Sevilla on Saturday, is billed to link up well with new signing, Gabriel Jesus.
“He’s displayed an ambition to take this club to a different level, to push this team and contribute within it, and as well the way he is respected by everyone inside the organisation,” added Arteta.
