Abia State Governor-elect, Alex Otti has commended the Abia League of Professionals Initiative for helping him achieve his goal of leading the state.
Otti pledged to carry out the instructions given to him in a statement that he personally signed for the professionals.
They had supported him “during this campaign, election, and high-tension four-day post-election interregnum heralding the victory on March 22, 2023, exactly one month today,” Otti said in his thank-you speech
He said: “You stood by me, prayed for me and supported me every step of the way. You contributed your time and financial resources to this course. God will bless you and replenish you a millionfold. I can assure you that you will be proud of our service to Abia people particularly and Nigerians in general.
“I’m also not unaware that a tiny minority either didn’t support me or sat on the fence. That is the beauty of democracy as I’m going to be governor to all. There’s no doubt that the expectations are very high, but that’s what it should be. We shall deliver on our mandate.”
In response, the leader and Director-General of the ALPI, Sonny Iroche, urged the governor-elect to put together a capable team to oversee the affairs of the state.
He said: “Thank you too for your statesmanly statement of appreciation to members of ALPI. Your emergence as the governor of Abia State, at this God’s appointed time, is certainly for a reason, as our good Lord makes all things possible and beautiful in his time. No man can share or take his glory. All glory belongs to Him only, for which we thank God. Your governorship is Abians prayers answered.
“This is now the time to put your hands on the plough with a team of those who can do the job and not those who want the job. Your government shall be as strong as the weakest link. I cannot preach much to the converted. As I know the experiences and challenges that you’ve gone through in the vicissitudes of your life’s journey.
“The heartwarming statement of yours, which resonates with me, is your affirmation that you shall be the governor of all, irrespective of pre-election positions, which, indeed, is the beauty of democracy.”
