Team Nigeria Women’s Volleyball team ended their journey in the African Volleyball Championship in Yaounde Cameroon with a defeat, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian side started the competition on an impressive note and reached the knockout round after recording two wins and two defeats in the group-stage matches.
They lost to Kenya in the quarter-final and crashed out of the medal zone but still classification games to fall back on.
They won their first classification game against Morocco 3-0 on Wednesday but their final classification match on Thursday ended in a 3-1 defeat to Algeria.
The North Africans dominated the game and clinched the first two quarters 25-18, 25-13 but Nigeria came back stronger in the 3rd quarter with h 23-25 win.
Algeria claimed the 4th set with a 25-17 win to finish in the 5th position as Team Nigeria ended their campaign in the 6th position.
