The presiding pastor of the Abuja chapter of House on the Rock Church, Uche Aigbe, caused quite a stir on Sunday when he mounted the pulpit with an AK-47 firmly hanging down on his shoulder.
This was brought to public eye by one Deji Adesogan, a tweep, on Sunday.
It is not clear if Pastor Aigbe got a permit for the firearm before taking it to church.
The incident has drawn mixed reactions, with some saying he was preaching a sermon that had to do with guarding one’s faith.

Others made it about religion, saying such actions would have drawn far more criticism if it were perpetrated by an imam.

Others said he should have gotten a permit.
Perhaps he wanted to use it to illustrate a point in his sermon. If that is the case he must require a permit. However, under no circumstance should any civilian be permitted to bear arms in a worship centre in a place considered to be peaceful. He can as well open fire there.

However, Switch Nigeria can confirm that Pastor Aigbe’s actions have been reported to the police who are now investigating the incident.

“The pastor will have a case to answer,” police spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi reacted to the trending video.
According to church members, the clergyman Pastor Uche Aigbe who is the presiding pastor of House on The Rock Abuja, carried the arms for illustration while preaching.
Reacting via his Twitter handle, Adejobi said the video has been forwarded to the Commissioner of Police for the FCT and that the clergyman will have a case to answer as no one is authorised to bear arms except an officer of the law.
