In order to ensure that the sacrifices made by the nation’s fallen heroes were not in vain, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has urged Nigerians to assist the widows and children they have left behind. The governor proclaimed that honoring Nigeria’s dead heroes must go beyond the country’s customary parades and dove releases, and also entail demonstrating affection for their families as a way to show gratitude to those who gave their lives to ensure the nation’s continued existence.
In order to ensure that the sacrifices made by the nation’s fallen heroes were not in vain, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has urged Nigerians to assist the widows and children they have left behind.
He made this comment in an interview following the Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony, which was held at the Arcade Ground of the State Secretariat Complex at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital, to commemorate the end of the year 2023.
The governor commended those who gave their life for a unified Nigeria for bringing about the nation’s peace and security.
“We should keep in mind that these are the people, without whom we will not have peace, law and order, and the necessary security, which is directly accountable for the socioeconomic development and permits people to go about their business looking for means of subsistence.”
Abiodun emphasized that as the country moved closer to the upcoming election, his administration would stop at nothing to ensure a peaceful environment in all areas of the state through inter-party tolerance. He also cautioned that if the state’s peace was threatened, his government would not hesitate to use the big stick.
