A 12-year-old girl has been discovered in Benue, where she’s married to a 50-year-old.
The girl narrated that she has been living with the man since August of 2022.
The girl who can’t speak English, narrated in Tiv language through her interpreter that the man has been forcefully having sex with her since she moved in. She added that the man usually beats her up anytime she resists.
Asked how she ended up in the man’s house, she said it was her grandmother that arranged her ‘marriage’ to the quinquagenarian who already has two wives.
She said she is from Eggon, a community in nearby Nasarawa State.
She added that the man who left his two wives in Gwer West and has rented an apartment in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital where he cultivates rice and sells agro chemicals. It is there that he has been defiling the 12-year-old.
