Nigeria’s senior Women’s Basketball team D’Tigress started their campaign in the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasketball Championship in Kigali, Rwanda on a strong note on Friday morning.

The team under the tutelage of Reno Wakama arrived in Kigali for the championship a few days ago to defend their title.

They started the opening game against DR Congo like a house on fire winning the first quarter 16-8.

They continue their dominance in the second quarter and they were able to check the attacking threat of the Congolese by winning 29-18.

D’Tigress proved too much for the DR Congo team as they moved out of sight in the 3rd quarter with a comprehensive 46-32.

The Nigerian side wrapped up the final quarter with another captivating performance and secured an emphatic 69-35 victory.

Nigeria will confront Egypt on Sunday in its second group match.
