Jose Peseiro expressed his displeasure at the referee Kotey Alexander and blamed him for the defeat to Guinea Bissau in their AFCON Qualifiers.
The Super Eagles conceded in the 29 minutes of the first half with a goal from Mama Balde giving the away team the lead. A lot of effort was made by the Super Eagles to get back to the game but the away side held their nerves and saw the game through and gained a crucial three points.
The Super Eagles failed to secure the three points and go top of their table as they dropped down to second position, one point behind Guinea Bissau. The Super Eagles coach was not pleased with his team’s performance but also put some of the blame on the referee for his team’s loss.
Speaking after the game, “Peseiro said the referee failed to give the Guinea Bissau player Mama Balde a red card after going in hard on Kevin Akoguma in the second half of the game.
He also continued by saying “The referee did not give a penalty to the Super Eagles striker after he was roughly handled in the penalty box.
The Super Eagles coach added that ”The added time given by the referee did not justify the amount of time wasted for the treatment of the Super Eagles defender and he was expecting 10 minutes added time from the referee.”
Peseiro men will travel to Guinea Bissau for the second leg of their AFCON Qualifiers as they continue their quest to qualify for the African Cup of Nations and a win for them will put them in the driving sit.
