Wike Must Go Before The Elections, PCC Spokesperson Advises FG

The Federal Government has been asked to remove Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike before the start of the 2023 general elections, according to Daniel Bwala, a spokesperson for the People’s Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council.

Bwala stated on Arise TV on Wednesday that the removal of the state governor is the only way to end the state’s PDP crisis. He also suggested that the federal government declare a state of emergency in Rivers.

Bwala claimed that Wike’s actions might prevent the state from holding its upcoming elections in a free and fair manner.

Bwala said: “If the chief executive officer of the state cannot allow free and fair conduct, then the proper thing to do is to declare a state of emergency, remove him and conduct election there and this wouldn’t be new in Nigeria.”

Bwala continued by asserting that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s candidate for president, would triumph in Rivers, despite the cancellation of the party’s presidential rally there to “prevent bloodshed.”

Atiku will visit Rivers State to rejoice with its residents if he wins the election, he added.

Bwala added that the state’s leaders would guarantee Atiku’s victory. Bwala observed that such leaders had consistently delivered votes for Atiku when he ran in the past, adding that “these are the ground warriors who know the people at the base.” He specifically mentioned the previous National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, as “those that matter to deliver votes.”
