UCL: Bayern edge past PSG in Paris as Tottenham fall to first leg defeat against AC Milan

UEFA Champions League action resumed on Valentine’s Day with Bayern Munich dominating and beating Paris Saint Germain in Paris 1-0 while a Brahim Daiz early goal gave AC Milan a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in San Siro.

PSG hoped to break their Champions League trophyless curse but failed to a round of 16 first league defeat to German champions Bayern Munich 1-0 at Parc de France on Tuesday night.

Kingsley Coman gave the Germans a deserved lead against his former club in the 53rd minutes after receiving a lovely ball from Alphonso Davies and his cross into the box fell to the unmarked Coman whose first time short went into the net.

The French champions were left with no alternative but to gamble on the fitness of Mbappe and introduce him into the one-sided affair. The France international responded and forced an excellent save out of Yann Sommer before having a goal chalked off by VAR for offside in the build up.

A resurgent PSG pushed and threatened right at the death but could not rescue it despite the German outfit seeing Benjamin Pavard dismissed for a second yellow card.

On this evidence, Bayern will be confident of completing the job in the return leg in Germany on March 8, but assuming they will face a fully fit Mbappe at the Allianz Arena, PSG will no doubt represent a tougher proposition.

Elsewhere, AC Milan inflicted defeat on Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur through a seventh minute goal by Brahim Daiz at the San Siro in Milan.

The win gives AC Milan a slim control of the tie as they travel to London for the return leg in a fourthnight.
