NPFL: Akwa Utd, Enyimba, 3SC, Lobi and Sunshine Stars records home victories while Nasarawa united drew in Gombe

After Bendel Insurance 3-0 victory over Remo stars and Rivers United 1-2 away win in Uyo against Dakkada FC on Saturday, Matchday four action continued on Sunday.

Akwa United defeated Plateau United at the newly built Eket Stadium 1-0 in Akwa Ibom state to record their second win in group A.

The host took the lead after Christopher Nwaeze headed the ball onto the path of James Ajako, who latched it in the back of the net nine minutes before the final whistle.

Victory for the host pushed them to fourth position on the log with seven points from four games while Plateau United sits in sixth with four points from four games this season.

A brace from Chukwuemeka Obioma and Ademola Adebambo’s goal helped Enyimba international FC thrash Kwara United 3-0 at the Enyimba international stadium in Aba in the second game of the 3pm Kickoff on Sunday.

Benue based club, Lobi stars also put three past Aiteo Cup holders Bayelsa United 3-0 in a group B fixture at the Ape Aku stadium in Makurdi.

Kamaga Suur’s double and Umar Aba’s goal was enough to inflict defeat on the Bayelsa state club who looked to get a back to back win since returning into the NPFL.

Lobi stars picked up their third straight victory since losing to champions Rivers United on matchday one to plummet to second in group A, a point behind Rivers United as Bayelsa United remained in eight.

Sunshine stars of Akure ended a run of three consecutive draws with a 1-0 victory over Abia Warriors at the Akure township stadium.

Samson Olasupo’s 35th minute strike gave the host their first three points of the season after picking three points from their previous three this season to move fourth place in group B.

In Ibadan, Shooting Stars defeated El Kanemi Warriors 1-0, thanks to Tiza Iorwuese’s 71st minute goal which handed the Oluyole warriors their first win of the season.

Other actions from Matchday four fixtures saw Doma United against Wikki Tourist and Niger Tornadoes Vs Enugu Rangers ending in a goalless draw while Yusuf Taiye’s last minute penalty kick helped Gombe United to earn a point at home against Nasarawa united after Chinedu Ohanachom had earlier given the away side the lead in the 21st minute.
