NPFL: Bendel Insurance thrash Remo Stars 3-0 as Rivers United maintain top spot in group B

Bendel Insurance convincingly defeated Remo Stars 3-0 to go three points clear in group A.

The Matchday four encounter saw Bendel Insurance produce a flamboyant display in front of their fans in Benin as they continued their return to the NPFL after three years absent.

HiFL star Imade Osarenkhoe put the host to an early lead in the fifth minute after scrabbling the ball inside the net from a corner to score his fourth goal of the season.

Ismael Seriki then made the game difficult for the away side as he doubled the host tally in the 22nd minute before Austin Ogunye rounded off the scoring 14 minutes to the 90 as the host recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory.

Victory for Bendel Insurance took them top of group A, while the Sky blue Stars fell to their first defeat this season after winning their first three games.

The Benin Arsenals are now unbeaten in their last 4 matches, with 12 points and 8 goals.

The Benin based team are the only team to have picked all maximum points this season.

Champions Rivers United defeated Dakkada FC 1-2 at the Nest of Champions in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state on Saturday to stretch their lead at the top of Group B to four points.

Dakkada FC struck first through Isaac George in the 16th minutes, Nwangwa Nyima then scored his first of the season to restore parity for the host 20 minutes later before Naibe Akpesiri completed the first half comeback for the champions on 45+3.

The pride of Rivers then held on in the second half to get their first away win of the season and further extend their lead at the top of group B to four points, 10 points from four games.
