A seven-year-old girl was among four people injured following a suspected drive-by shooting outside a church where mourners had gathered for a funeral.
The shocking incident took place in Phoenix Road, close to Euston station in north London, in the middle of the afternoon on Saturday, January 14.
Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were scrambled to the scene just before 1.30pm.
Three women, aged 41, 48 and 54, were rushed to hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, but one has potentially life-changing injuries.
Scotland Yard said it received a further report just over half an hour later saying the youngster had been taken to hospital with wounds suspected to have been suffered in the same incident.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson added: ‘The incident took place in the vicinity of a church where a funeral was taking place.
‘Initial enquiries suggest the shots were fired from a moving vehicle which was then driven from the scene.’
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said the shooting was ‘deeply distressing’.
Mr Khan said: ‘This is a deeply distressing incident and my thoughts are with those who were injured and their families.
‘A police investigation is now under way and I am in close contact with the Met Police to determine what happened.’
