MATCH REPORT: Brighton put four past sorry Chelsea

Chelsea suffered their first Premier League defeat under Graham Potter (W3 D2 L1), conceding double the number of goals today (4) as they did in their first five league matches under the Englishman (2).

Brighton started the game at an incredible pace and forced Thiago Silva into two clearances off the line before Trossard opened the scoring in the fifth minute.

He rounded Kepa before shooting past Cucurella on the line. Loftus-Cheek then scored Chelsea’s first own goal of the half after turning home March’s corner in the 14th minute.

Sanchez was forced into some brilliant saves, the most notable being from a Gallagher header, but Brighton then struck a third before the break as Chalobah tuned Estupinan’s cross into his own net.

Havertz quickly pulled a goal back at the start of the second half as he headed home following a perfect cross from Gallagher.

Chelsea pushed for more goals but to no avail and Gross finished the game off in added time as he scored from a rebound, after Mendy saved two shots from Enciso, to make it 4-1.
