British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe on Friday made a late bid to buy Chelsea worth over $5b, despite Todd Boehly emerging as the number one person to acquire the London side.
Ratcliffe owns Ligue 1 club Nice and has also invested in Formula One team Mercedes. But that’s not all, he also owns Ineos and recently started developing the auto startup, Ineos Grenadier, a boxy off road SUV based on the old Land Rover Defender.
However, Todd Boehly has won the race to buy Chelsea in a deal worth more than £3.5billion, despite a dramatic late hijack attempt from Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Todd Boehly is an American businessman, investor, and philanthropist. He is the Co-founder, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and controlling member of Eldridge Industries, a holding company headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Chelsea Football Club has been owned by Russian oligarch, Roman Abramovich since 2002 until the Russia vs Ukraine war and his alleged involvement with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, forced him to put the club up for sale, buoyed by the United Kingdom Government sanctioning the club.
