The Super Eagles of Nigeria were second best all night when they came up against a much changed Ghana side in Kumasi.
Many taunted the Austin Eguavoen-led side to decimate a Ghana side that has been very abysmal of late, but the host dominated proceedings for large parts of the game.
If not for their poor finishing, the home side would have won on the night, as they played way better.
Moses Simon, Chukwueze and Osimhen all failed to turn up, as the midfield struggled to get the ball to the forward line. Simon spurned the visitor’s best chance of the night when he hit the ball straight at the Ghanaian goalkeeper.
The Super Eagles thought they had won a penalty after a Ghanaian defender appeared to have handled the ball in the box, but decision was overturned after the VAR review, as Kelechi Iheanacho was shown to have fouled the Ghanaian player in the build up.
Nigeria will play host to the Black Stars on Tuesday in Abuja and will hope to put in a better performance if they are to qualify for the Qatar World Cup.
