President Muhammadu Buhari has told Nigerians not to write off the Super Eagles after the national side fumbled out of the ongoing AFCON in Cameroon on Sunday.
President Buhari who many blamed for being the reason behind the Eagles’ loss, said despite the disappointment, the players and officials did quite well.
The Super Eagles fell to Tunisia 1:0 with Alex Iwobi seeing red. Nigerians later blamed the loss on the call the president made to the players and staff six hours before kick-off.
Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu was quoted as saying, “They gave everyone the confidence that they were up to it, and I am sure it was something they could have achieved. Nonetheless, we should not write them off.”
