North Central governor enters EFCC surveillance for diverting N60bn state funds

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has allegedly placed a governor from the North Central zone on watch list.

The governor whose identity has been kept secret entered the surveillance of the anti-graft agency after the commission found that he has withdrawn over N60bn from his state’s coffers.

The Commission said because he is still a sitting Governor, he’s still covered by the immunity clause.

According to the head of the Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, details of the North-central Governor and how much he has stolen from his state will made public after May 29, 2023.

“I can tell you for free that the new Department of Intelligence that we have created is working wonders,” Bawa boasted.

“They have come up with a lot of intelligence. In one of them, a governor in a North-Central state within the last six years (one individual) has withdrawn over N60 billion in cash.
