West Ham stun Chelsea as Tuchel’s men derail in title race

West Ham disrupted Chelsea’s title charge on Saturday afternoon with a 3:2 victory in the London derby. The table leaders travelled to the London Stadium hoping to consolidate their lead on the top, however, what they found in their opponents was too much to contain.Thiago Silva gave the visitors the lead early on before Lanzini drew Moyes’ men leveled from the spot after Jorginho’s poor back pass and Jarrod Bowen’s tenacious press saw goalkeeper Edouard Mendy lunge in and concede the spot-kick.It was the Italian’s second mistake in as many games, with both leading to goals.Mason Mount restored the visitor’s lead with a near perfect strike from the bear post, but West Ham replied just few minutes later through Jarrod Bowen. The Hammers, instead of settling for a draw as many expected, continued digging deep and it eventually paid off. Michal Antonio hit the ball back to Arthur Musuaku after the later threw him a ball in, and the defender attempted a cross only for the ball to swerve goal-ward catching Mendy, who had his eyes elsewhere, off-guard.This was Chelsea’s second defeat of the season and as it stands, should Manchester City and Liverpool win their games, Chelsea will go into next weekend’s game in third position.
