60 Senior ‘Yahoo Boys’ Arrested While Receiving Award Of ‘Excellence’ From Colleagues

A total of sixty (60) suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys” have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The sixty, according to a statement issued on Monday evening by the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said were arrested during an awards ceremony at the Conference Hotel in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The suspects

Uwujaren said the event tagged “Peer Youths Awards”, the commission’s investigation revealed that it was organized to reward high-level internet fraudsters.

He said items recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include exotic cars, electronic devices, laptop computers and mobile phones.

The anti-graft agency spokesman further said the suspects will soon be charged to court.
