Nigeria’s Minister for Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami has stated that the Federal Government’s plan of ending insecurity is the National Identification Number (NIN).

Speaking in Gombe, Pantami disclosed that the NIN is needed if Nigeria can be secured. He noted that no country can be safe without proper profiling. He went on to outline some of the challenges holding holding NIN registration back.
He spoke in Gombe at a lecture themed, ‘Deployment of emerging technology to enhance the security tertiary institutions in Nigeria.’
He added, “The topic is very apt because in today’s Nigeria, we are confronted with so many security challenges. The more one challenge is been addressed, another challenge will emerge.
“It is necessary for us to be proactive to be ahead of criminals. We must be proactive to ensure we are ahead of them. Another dimension has been added to global insecurity today, the addition of cyber criminality.”
