There was commotion on Saturday morning when a speeding DAF truck overturned along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leaving two dead.
As per The Punch, about fifteen others sustained varying degrees of injury. It was gathered that the vehicle was going to Lagos when the accident happened along Eldorado area.
The accident which involved a truck with onions and people, left the onions and people scattered around the vicinity, thereby causing traffic.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident, gave the number plate of the truck as RBH 214 XA.
He said, “According to eyewitness account, as the vehicle was approaching the diversion bend, the driver lost control, probably as a result of speed.
“It overturned in the process, spilling all the onions it was carrying on the road, together with the 17 passengers atop the truck.
“Two of the passengers died on the spot while 15 others were injured.
“The rescue agencies at the scene of the crash were the TRACE, Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and JBN.”
