An accident in Ore-Okitipupa axis of Ondo State on Friday, left many dead, while others sustained varying degrees of injury.
According to the People’s Gazette, the accident which escalated into an inferno started when a Ford bus collided with a Toyota Coaster bus.
The clash left many burnt beyond recognition, according to an eyewitness.
He said the Ford bus was laden with local gin, while the Coaster carried people. Upon collision, the gin in the Ford aided the combustion, as both busses were trying to navigate a bad section of the road.
Sikiru Alonge, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Unit Commander, Ore Unit Command, said the number of dead bodies could not be confirmed.
He added that collaborative efforts with the police helped curtail the inferno, even as the dead and injured were rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Okitipupa and Prima Hospital in Ore.
