The Bauchi State Government has reportedly spent N150 million for the construction of more waste collection sites in the state.
Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Hamisu Shira, made this known on Friday. He added that some of the money also went into procurement of payloaders, the repairs of six waste collection vehicles and water tankers.
“The payloaders and trucks are to be used for waste clearance exercise at the collection sites,” he said.
“We will not relent in ensuring effective enforcement of the existing environmental laws in the state,” adding that most of the environmental problems were man-made.
