The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of the just concluded Governorship elections in Anambra.
Despite the many hitches that marred the success of the elections, the Returning Officer, Florence Obi announced the results on Wednesday morning.
The APGA candidate and former Central Bank Governor, secured 112,229 votes to defeat his two major rivals — Valentine Ozigbo of the PDP who got 53,807 votes, and Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who secured 43,285 votes.
At about 1:51 am on Wednesday, Obi said, “Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
Charles Soludo won 19 of the 21 local government areas in the state, while PDP won Ogbaru. Fourth placed Ifeanyi Uba of the Young Progressives Party won Nnewi. The ruling party, APC, didn’t win any local government.
