Governors won’t accept FG’s arbitrary deductions from Paris refund funds- Fayemi

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has kicked against the Federal Government’s arbitrary deductions of funds from the federation account.

The chairman of the Nigerian Governor’s Forum made this known when he spoke to journalists on Tuesday after the 27th Nigerian Economic Summit (NES 27) in Abuja.

“As far as states are concerned. They do not accept that funds belonging to the federation account are deducted arbitrarily without their input,” Fayemi said.

“We are dealing with the issue. You will find the resolution to it.

“That’s why they (governors) have insisted until this is clarified, we will rather leave the money in the pool until we all agree.”

It was gathered that the governors requested a forensic audit after they got to know that about $418 million from the local governments’ accounts had been earmarked to pay private consultants from the Paris Club refund.
