Chelsea scrape through to League Cup Q/finals with victory over Southampton

Chelsea hosted Southampton in the last 16 of this year’s Carabao Cup competition and the blues struggled to break the Saints.

Kai Havertz opened te scoring for the Blues just before half time, but Che Adams drew the visitors level just after the break.


The game would go on that way till the end, with neither sides able to get the win.

However, in the penalty shootout, both Theo Walcott and Mason Mount missed their kicks, whole the rest scored on both sides, only for Saint, Smallbone to miss his, thereby giving Chelsea the edge. 4:3 it ended on the night.

It wasn’t tidy, but Thomas Tuchel’s men are now in the Quarter Final of the competition.
