Presidential contestant under the umbrella of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu has labelled Nigeria a failed state.
Moghalu said this on the basis of the recent terrorist attack on the Abuja-Kaduna railway line which rendered some section of the track useless, risking the lives of the Nigerians.
He noted that the government didn’t do anything to foil the attack even after they got word of it ahead of time.
Earlier this year, Transport and Works Minister, Rotimi Amaechi issued a warning that railway vandals should be given the death penalty. However, the government has not said much after Wednesday’s attacks.
“After reading reports of the terrorist attacks on the Abuja-Kaduna train, and of how security networks were reportedly aware in advance of the attack but did nothing, we must tell ourselves the truth: Nigeria is a failed state pretending to be a normal country.”
Moghalu added that these issues are not peculiar to Nigeria but that for things things change, the people must act correctly come 2023.
“Our state failure can be reversed. Britain suffered from “The Troubles” (terrorism by the Irish Republican Army) decades ago, but today it’s a different story. Afghanistan is not our destiny, but we must change our political direction in 2023 to make that outcome a false prophecy2023 is our last chance to take our country back.”
“To succeed, we must think and see clearly and act decisively. The old order, the business as usual order, can’t fix Nigeria. A problem does not solve itself. Only something new and different will. Let’s back that thing.
