After surviving an onslaught from newly promoted side Brentford to secure all three points and go back to the summit of the Premier League, experts are labelled Chelsea the favourites for the title.
Thomas Tuchel’s men managed just one shot on target all game, and that one shot produced the only game of the match. In-form left back, Ben Chilwell stunned the Bees with a fine effort at the stroke of half time.
While at the other end, Edourd Mendy did enough to keep out as many as seven shots the men in white and red threw at him. Although second best on the afternoon, they leapfrogged Liverpool and Manchester City back to the top of the league.
After the game, however, two Manchester United legends, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville expressed their mixed reactions to the game.
Scholes said, “I think Chelsea have got the manager to challenge. I’m just not sure, not convinced there’s enough goals in the team.
“I think Romelu Lukaku will score goals but are there enough people around him to score goals. I’m not sure Timo Werner will. When he plays for Germany he scores every game, for Chelsea he misses a lot of chances.
“I also don’t think Chelsea are great defensively. [Antonio] Rudiger has been really good but other than that, Thiago Silva is 36, he’s not going to play every game.
Meanwhile, Gary Neville told Sky Sports during a debate about the chances of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea that the London side are his favourite for the title.
He said, “I think Chelsea can win the title. They’re a team who are resilient and are tough to play against. I can’t think that any team in the league would like to play against them”
