With the spate of insecurity and violence showing no signs of slowing down in Anambra State, the Federal Government stated that it won’t hesitate declaring State of Emergency in the Southeastern state.
This was made known by the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami after rhe Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.
Malami who is also the Minister of Justice said the government won’t hesitate to do what is needed to return that State to normalcy.
“No possibility is out ruled by government in terms of ensuring the sanctity of our democratic order, in terms of ensuring that our elections in Anambra holds, and you cannot out rule possibilities inclusive of the possibility of declaration or state of emergency where it is established, in essence, that there is a failure on the part of the state government to ensure the sanctity of security of lives, properties and democratic order?”
With unknown gunmen on the loose in Anambra, political campaigns from both the APC and the PDP have been suspended ahead of the November 6 polls, as some supporters were gruesomely murdered.
