South-South to Launch Regional Security outfit soon

South South Governors, under the aegis of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta (BRACED) have decided to establish its own security outfit, like the South Western states have done.

The governors who met at the Rivers State Government House on Monday, amongst other things, discussed insecurity and the need to have a regional policing force.

In a statement signed by the chairman of the South-South leaders, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said, “Bearing in mind that most of the BRACED states have established their state security’s organs, we approved the regional security architecture, which will be launched very soon.”

Although Ben Ayade of Cross River was not present at the meeting, the five governors present were able to discuss VAT and territorial unity.
