Kelechi Iheanacho could not have chosen a better day to score than Sunday, the same day he celebrated his 25th birthday.
The Leicester City forward scored the first goal in his side’s 2:2 draw with Crystal Palace.
He appreciated God by quoting one of the beatitudes in a tweet.
He said, “Happy birthday KELECHCHUKWU
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God
Iheanacho’s footballing career came to the limelight after he announced himself during the FIFA Under-17 back in 2013.
Iheanacho played a significant role in that competition, where he won the Golden Ball award for player of the tournament. Nigeria won the competition, in which Iheanacho scored six times, including once in the final, and provided seven assists.
He becomes only the third Nigerian to score on his birthday, after Obafemi Martins (2008) for Newcastle and Jay-Jay Okocha (2004) for Bolton Wanderers.
