The Pontiff of Rome, Jorge Mario Bergoglio popularly known by his alias, Pope Francis has called on Buhari to end the incessant killings in Nigeria.
The Bishop of Rome made this call on Wednesday during a meeting in Vatican City.
The Pope was reacting to the recent attack of Madamai and Abun communities in Kaura LGA of Kaduna state, where 34 residents were killed. Eight more people sustained injuries during the attack while about 20 houses were said to have been burnt by the bandits.
After praying for the victims and for Nigerians, the Head of the Roman Catholic Church expressed his sympathies with the people of Southern Kaduna.
“I learnt with pain the news of the armed attacks that took place last Sunday against the villages of Madamai Abun in Northern Nigeria,” he said.
“I pray for those who have died, for the injured and for the entire Nigerian population. I hope that the country always guarantees the safety of all its citizens.”
