Messi scores 1st PSG Goal, as Paris side Beat City

Paris Saint Germain sent out a statement of intent today against fellow big spenders Manchester City, as they hammered the Citizens in Paris.

After going three games without a goal, Argentine forward, Lionel Messi got on the scoresheet on the night, after Idrissa Gueye gave the Parisans tan early lead.

Lionel Messi has now scored 27 goals in 35 appearances against English teams in the UEFA Champions League; 15 more than any other player in the competition.

The defeat was the first for Pep Guardiola’s men in Champions League group stage since 2018 when they lost to Lyon.

Even though the English side dominated possession on the night, and had more chances on goal, they lacked the finesse in front of goal.

PSG now top group A with four points, Club Brugge are second while City are third, with RB Leipzig in fourth.
