On Monday, Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau presided over a meeting of Northern Governors and monarchs in Kaduna.
According to the official Plateau State press release on Facebook, the meeting seeks to iron out issues concerning the value added tax.
Some Southern governors like Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike have not minced words in insisting that VAT be collected by states, not the FIRS.
The decision has affected many states who used to benefit from the collective windfall. Those worst hit are Northern states, since they generate far less than what the Southern States generate.
The outcome of the meeting is not yet known but turn out was encouraging, and it remains to be seen what it would be.
Of the Governors, Nasir El-Rufai, Babagana Zulum and Simon Lalong were the notable faces there.
