Chelsea got their first defeat of the season today when Manchester City beat them at Stamford Bridge through a Gabriel Jesus second half effort.
Thomas Tuchel’s men hoped to again edge Pep Guardiola, but it was not to be as the Citizens restricted the UEFA Champions League Winners to zero shots on goal all afternoon.
City dominated possession as always right from the start but were unable to break through a well organised Chelsea defence despite attempting 15 shots, compared to Chelsea’s 5.
However, the men from Etihad eventually got fruits out of their dominance on the 53rd minute when Brazilian forward, Gabriel Jesus turned in a fine Cancelo ball to give Pep’s men the lead.
Shortly after that, Lukaku who had been silenced all game like he was in the game against Liverpool, scored just after the hour mark after fine work from Havertz, but the VAR ruled it out for offside.
It ended 0:1 to City, who now share the same points (13) with table leaders Liverpool (who have a game in hand), losers Chelsea and fourth placed Manchester United who also lost to Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
