The Senator representing Yobe North Federal Constituency, Ahmad Lawan has said the Senate lacks jurisdiction to restrain the president from borrowing.
Lawan, who is also the Senate President said the blames should be put of past administrations who failed to save enough for turbulent times.
Lawan said, “The Senate can’t stop Buhari from borrowing. Rather past administrations should be blamed for not saving enough for the raining day.”
In countries where the Senate actually does its job, the Legislative arm has the capacity to say no to motions from the Executive arm.
But Mr. Lawan seemed to suggest otherwise, which is just one of many ways Nigerian Legislators have proven time and time again that they colluding with the Executive in forcing on the Nigerian people unpopular policies.
